  • Nursing is a professional service which contributes to the image of God by the promotion of health and prevention of illness through the facilitation of informed decision making and self-care behaviors as well as the provision of care to clients and families during health and illness.
  • The aim of education is to enable one to live a meaningful and dignified life which is devoted to the service of our fellowmen
  • The basic course in nursing is a formal educational preparation which is based on sound educational principles. We recognize it as the foundation on which the practice of nursing is built and on which further education depends. It prepares nurses for the first level positions in both the hospital and community.
  • Nursing education is a life-long process that should focus on research to generate its own scientific body of knowledge in order to improve nursing practice.
  • The student are adult learners and should be self-directed in their learning. At the same time, we believe that we have a responsibility to the student and society to make provision in the programme for continued development of the student as an individual and a responsible citizen as well as a nurse.
  • Nurse educators should continuously develop themselves in order to contribute to health and social demands that the professional learner needs
  • The education of nurses should take place in all settings and the environment should be

conducive for learning to take place. It is the responsibility of the staff to provide an environment that conducive to learning.
