Overall Functions

  • Counseling in and out patients in accordance with their discharge plans.
  • Counseling of relatives and family towards acceptance of patients’ conditions.
  • Investigations into patients’ backgrounds and social problems to assist in accessing free medical treatment.
  • Tracing relatives of patients in order to involve them in the treatment and discharge plan of the patient.
  • Undertaking home visits for further assessments of home environment.
  • Facilitating pauper burials for the deceased destitute patients.
  • Identification of other referral agencies and referring patients for further assistance.
  • Giving lectures on social work interventions in a medical setup to trainees’ student nurses.
  • Follow up and continued assistance and counselling to all discharged patients.
  • Taking care of child welfare issues especially of children in need of any help while admitted at the hospital.
